
Shannen Torres is communications coordinator at the Climate Leadership Initiative (CLI), where she supports content and events strategy as well as the everyday operations of the communications team.
Prior to joining CLI, Shannen led marketing strategy at El Centro Chicano y Latino, creating engaging experiences for staff and managing digital internal communications. She comes from an arts and non-profit background, having previously worked in Digital Collections for the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum and as a digital researcher for the U.S. Latinx Art Forum, an advocacy organization for Latinx art and art history.
Born and raised in New York, Shannen relocated to the Bay Area to earn her BA in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity and MA in Latin American studies from Stanford University. She is fluent in Spanish and studies Haitian Creole in her free time. Shannen’s belief in a just future fuels her commitment to climate and environmental justice work.
