Joan Ochi is editor for Climate Leadership Initiative (CLI), developing philanthropic proposals and other strategic communications that inspire action.
Prior to joining CLI, Joan worked at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. as part of the Development and Alumni Relations team, advising fundraising partners across the university on communications and marketing strategies aimed at increasing philanthropy. Previously, she worked in communications and marketing roles at Conservation International and at GlobalGiving.org, an entrepreneurial start-up nonprofit that helped popularize micro-philanthropy. Joan spent the early years of her career in finance and marketing at HP in the U.S. and Europe and spent five years living in Europe and the Middle East with her Foreign Service spouse.
Joan currently is based in Washington, D.C., where she lives with her husband and occasional visits from their two young adult children. She has an MBA from Columbia University and a BA from the University of California, Berkeley. Joan is familiar with the profound impact that climate change is having on our world and is excited to promote solutions that improve the health of our planet.
