Fiona Musana Marwa
Associate Director, Partnerships, Global Climate Strategies
Fiona Musana Marwa is the associate director, partnerships. Fiona brings over two decades of international nonprofit expertise to the Global Climate Strategies team gained by working at the senior level, with diverse organizations in Africa, Asia, and Europe. This includes the German International Cooperation (GIZ), ActionAid, Greenpeace Africa, Nonviolent Peaceforce Sri Lanka, WaterAid, ALI Media/Bloomberg Media Initiative Africa Fellowship, Save the Children Southern Africa, and the Independent Evaluation Group (IEG) of the World Bank. Most recently, as senior technical advisor at Impact and Innovation Development Center (IIDC), Fiona engaged with local NGOs in Eastern Africa and with global partners.
During this time, she helped cultivate a collaborative environment to develop shared resources, including philanthropic landscapes and frameworks to deepen the impact of their respective initiatives. As engagement director for Greenpeace Africa, Fiona established strategic networks with NGOs and media agencies across the continent. She developed and rolled out the communications and engagement strategy for the organization.
Fiona speaks Kiswahili and German. Passionate about climate justice, Fiona holds a bachelor’s in political science and literature from Makerere University and a master’s of communication for development from the University of Zambia. Fiona lives outside Washington D.C. with her family and loves walking and exploring different cultures.
