Walt Reid
Walt Reid is the former vice president for environment and science at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, which he joined in 2006. Prior to that, Walt was responsible for the creation of the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment, which he directed from 1998 until the release of the findings in 2005. He also served as vice president of the World Resources Institute. Walt serves in a governance capacity for numerous organizations, including as a board member for the Climate and Land Use Alliance; a member of the governing committee of the policy and global affairs division of the National Research Council; a member of the board of editors of Ecosystems and PLOS-Biology; and a member of the international advisory board of Frontiers in Ecology and Environment. Walt earned a Ph.D. in zoology (ecology and evolutionary biology) from the University of Washington and a B.A. in zoology from the University of California at Berkeley.
